I'm pleased to share some good news in this challenging time for ourselves, our families, and our community.
Last week, when the New York State Legislature passed its final budget, it included the hard-fought, long in the making Child-Parent Security Act.
Once signed, the Act will make gestational surrogacy legal in the State of New York, along with the most robust set of protections for surrogates of any state.
Following years of tireless legal and social advocacy by organizations and individuals, childless and LGBTQ families will finally have the right to become parents through the process of surrogacy.
Our firm's Matrimonial & Family Law and LGBTQ Representation Practices have helped guide clients through the adoption and foster care processes for years, and we're excited for the opportunity to help bring love and joy to families in yet another way.
