Joseph Milizio, VMM managing partner and head of the LGBTQ Representation Practice, has joined the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) new LGBTQ Law Section.
The purpose of the Section is "to promote equality in the law for LGBTQ people; eliminate discrimination against LGBTQ attorneys and litigants; promote equality of opportunity for, and increase the visibility of, contributions made by LGBTQ attorneys; and promote diversity in the bench by inclusion of all minorities, including LGBTQ people."
Mr. Milizio is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association (NCBA) LGBTQ Committee, the Hofstra University LGBT Advisory Board, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) National Board of Governors, and the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce - New York (nglccNY).
Vishnick McGovern Milizio was one of the first law firms in the U.S. to establish a dedicated LGBTQ Representation Practice, and we continue to provide dedicated and compassionate legal support for all people.
The firm is a longtime advocate for LGBTQ rights through pro bono and community involvement initiatives, including as cosponsors of the HRC 2019 annual summer fundraiser and prime sponsors of the 2019 CUNY Pridefest. The New York Law Journal named VMM’s LGBTQ Representation Practice to its “New York Top Rated Lawyers 2020” list. Mr. Milizio was also named the LI Herald Top Lawyer of Long Island in the Civil Rights and Pro Bono categories, both for his work in LGBTQ matters.
