VMM and the LGBTQ Representation practice were proud to sponsor the PFY 'Passion for Pride: 30th Anniversary Celebration' fundraiser on June 13.
PFY (Pride For Youth), an affiliate of the Long Island Crisis Center, is a nonprofit organization helping LGBTQ youth. Its mission is to “enhance the health and wellness of the LGBTQ+ community through education, supportive services and personal development in Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties.”
Established in 1993, PFY is the very first LGBTQ+ center of its kind in a suburban setting in the United States. Well-known in the New York LGBTQ community and on Long Island in general, PFY has successfully pioneered various programs and initiatives for LGBTQ youth, serving 10,000 people in 2022 alone.
In addition to a 24/7 online and call center, PFY has two physical locations, in Bellmore and Deer Park, serving as youth centers offering 35 vital services and programs year-round.
VMM and managing partner Joe Milizio, head of the LGBTQ Representation practice, are longtime supporters of PFY. Last September, the firm sponsored, volunteered, and participated in the PFY ‘Let’s walk, let’s talk’ annual suicide prevention walk.
In July, PFY named their Deer Park center reception area in honor of Mr. Milizio and his husband, for their support and volunteerism. VMM was the main sponsor of Passion for Pride.
