VMM attorney Andrew A. Kimler, head of the firm's Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice and key member of the Employment Law, Commercial Litigation, and LGBTQ Representation practices, was appointed yesterday as a Special Master in the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division - Second Department's Mandatory Civil Appeals Mediation Program (MCAMP).
Mr. Kimler, a former partner and current of counsel at VMM, is a seasoned attorney who has previously been appointed to the US District Court Eastern District of New York's Mediation Panel and a court-appointed mediator for the Commercial Divisions of the State Supreme Court in Queens and Nassau Counties.
US Supreme Court Appellate Division - Second Judicial Department Presiding Justice Hector D. LaSalle approved Mr. Kimler to serve on MCAMP.
The Purpose of the program is to "provide litigants with a confidential alternative dispute resolution process that may result in faster, more convenient, less expensive and less acrimonious settlement." The program is mandatory as directed by the Court.
Special Masters, appointed based on expertise and special training, serve as neutral facilitators and preside over mediation sessions designed to assist litigating parties in reaching future-oriented solutions that meet their individualized needs.
